Authorities 'drop the hammer' on suspected drug ring

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officials said nine members of a suspected drug ring have been indicted as part of an investigation dubbed Operation Drop the Hammer.

US Attorney Walt Green announced the suspects were all formally charged in federal court in connection with a drug trafficking network operating in Baton Rouge and Denham Springs.

Darryl Cobb, also known as "Hammer Bob" and "Hammer," 33, of Baton Rouge, is charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, distribution of cocaine and cocaine base, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, unlawful use of a communications facility and forfeiture.

Tabari Wilkerson, also known as "T," 37, of Baton Rouge, is charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, distribution of cocaine, unlawful use of a communications facility and forfeiture.

Morgan Dillon, also known as "Mo," 33, of Baton Rouge, is charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, distribution of cocaine base, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, unlawful use of a communications facility and forfeiture.

Thurman Morris, 57, of Denham Springs, is charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, distribution of cocaine base, unlawful use of a communications facility, and forfeiture.

Gerald Cobb, 63, of Denham Springs, is charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, distribution of cocaine base, unlawful use of a communications facility and forfeiture.

Lashonda Cobb, 31, of Denham Springs, is charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, unlawful use of a communications facility and forfeiture.

Dequincy Conley, also known as "Dee Dee," 39, of Baton Rouge is charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base and forfeiture.

Troy Albert, also known as "Shine," 32, of Albany, is charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base and forfeiture.

Shabass Dantzler, 25, of Springfield, is charged with unlawful use of a communications facility.

Authorities noted not all of the suspects have been arrested. They reported Thurman Morris, Gerald Cobb and Troy Albert have all been taken into custody.

"My office, together with our federal, state, and local partners, will continue to focus our energies and resources on eradicating drug trafficking organizations and the violence that comes with them," Green said in a written release. "To be clear, dangerous drug dealers will find no safe haven within the federal criminal justice system."

He added he greatly appreciate the hard work of those involved in the investigation.
