BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Department of Public Safety officer was arrested Sunday morning for sexual battery and malfeasance in office, detectives say.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office says that Michael Selders, 47, was arrested after a woman alleged that he conducted a traffic stop and inappropriately touched her.
According to the victim, Selders stopped her vehicle early Saturday morning. The victim says that he hugged her once she exited the vehicle and continued to touch her inappropriately before he left the scene. The complainant then contacted the Sheriff's office to report the incident later that day. The victim also states that Selders often visits her workplace.
Detectives contacted Selders for questioning. According to the EBRSO, Selders had several inconsistencies in his account of the incident. After questioning, detectives booked Selders into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
According to reports, Selders has been an employee with the LDPS for seven years, serving in the Physical Security Division.
He is currently on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
