BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - During an investigation targeting prostitution in Baton Rouge, detectives with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office used a website called Backpage. There they found 24-year-old Ashley E. Wall offering services locally, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
The detectives stated in the affidavit they contacted Wall and negotiated a deal to have sex with her for $150 for 30 minutes. They agreed to meet at a gas station in the 2900 block of College Dr.
The detectives arrived in an unmarked police unit, wearing marked police gear. They noticed a silver vehicle parked next to the gas pump and the passenger was a white female who matched the picture in the ad on Backpage.
They pulled in front of the vehicle and turned on the detective blue lights.
Wall was asked to step out of the vehicle. That is when detectives saw loose marijuana on the floorboard under her legs. Both the driver and Wall were taken into custody. Detectives asked Wall if she was on Backpage, she said she was not. The detective then called the number he used to set up the meeting and her phone rang with the detective's number on the caller ID.
Wall told detectives the marijuana was hers and that she was about to smoke it.
During the investigation, detectives learned she was convicted of prostitution in 2013 in California.
The driver of the vehicle was released.
Wall was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of prostitution and possession of marijuana. She is being held in lieu of a $5,500 bond.
