JEANERETTE, LA (WAFB) - The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating an officer involved shooting that happened just after 11 p.m. Sunday in Jeanerette.

The shooting happened at 291 Martin Luther King Drive. Jeanerette Police Officers were called out for a suspicious person complaint in the 400 block of Bert Street. When they arrived, officers learned a suspect ran from the area.

Jeanerette officers found the man, now identified as 42-year-old Lance Dauphine. Reports say the police officer was stabbed by Dauphine and was then shot by a Jeanerette officer.

Both the officer and the suspect were hospitalized and released.

Dauphine has been booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on charges of two counts of attempted first degree murder of a police officer.
