BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - If you haven't felt it yet, colder temperatures are on the way this week, which means it's a good time to make sure you're preparing your vehicles for the change.

As the temps drop, especially in the overnight hours, you want to make sure you are allowing enough time for your cars to warm up.

Drivers are also advised to frequently check the pressure in their tires and the amount of coolant in their engines.

Blaze Ragusa, a Baton Rouge mechanic, said now is the best time to prepare for the worst case scenarios.

"It would be a good idea to have some water and blankets in your car," Ragusa said. "Take precautions for that."

A freeze watch will be in effect from Thursday night through Friday morning.
