GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - After a month-long investigation, a Gonzales, La. man was arrested during a drug bust and when deputies executed the search warrant, they found the 33-year-old man packaging heroin with four children in the home.
Deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Detectives say they purchased heroin from Moses Diggs several times at his home on Robert Road over the past month.
The four children, ranging in age from 8 to 11 years old, were released to next of kin.
During the investigation, detectives learned that the residence is located within 1,000 feet of a local school that is clearly marked as a drug free zone and prohibits possession within 2,000 feet.
Diggs was arrested and charged with distribution of heroin, possession with the intent to distribute heroin, four counts of illegal use of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of persons under 17 years of age, and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substances; drug free zone.
Diggs is a convicted felon with multiple counts of battery on an officer, drug charges, and aggravated flight from an officer dating back to 1999, according to Ascension Parish officials. Diggs' most recent arrest was in April 2014 for distribution of heroin and possession with the intent to distribute heroin.
