WAFB anchors serve as celebrity waiters

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - WAFB's own Andre Moreau and Lauren Westbrook participated in the Celebrity Waiters event Wednesday night.

The event was held at Stroube's Restaurant to help raise money for the Red Stick Revelry. The New Year's Eve celebration will feature  two bands this year -- local favorite David St. Romain who will perform at 630 p.m. on Dec. 31 at The Crest Stage downtown followed by a return performance by the band Phat Hat from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Other celebrity waiters included Mayor Kip Holden serving as Celebrity Maître D' and Celebrity Auctioneer Paul Arrigo, president of Visit Baton Rouge, presiding over a list of prizes that include the opportunity to sing a song on stage with the band Phat Hat on New Year's Eve and an exclusive VIP package to the Bayou Country Superfest.

In 2013, an estimated 15,000 people were in the Galvez Plaza area downtown for the inaugural Red Stick Ready celebration leading up to the midnight drop of a 9-foot LED-lighted Red Stick from 30 feet above the Beacon in Town Square.
