Two arrested in hotel drug bust

AMELIA, LA (WAFB) - Two men from Bayou L'Ourse, La. were arrested Wednesday after reports of illegal drug activity in a hotel room in Amelia, La.

When deputies from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office arrived, they searched the room that 23-year-old Stephen Crawford and 24-year-old Brandon Kelly were staying in.

Deputies say they found several pills inside a plastic bag on the floor. They also found methamphetamine in the room and a loaded handgun.

Both Crawford and Kelly were taken to St. Mary Parish Jail.

Deputies say that during the booking process, additional pills were located on Kelly's person.

Crawford has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of alprazolam, possession of clonazepam, possession of Soma, possession of hydrocodone.

Kelly has been charged with possession of hydrocodone, possession of alprazolam, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.

No bail has been set for either of them.
