Deputies search for suspect after high speed chase

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA (WAFB) - The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for a Natalbany man after he fled a traffic stop and led deputies in a high speed chase Saturday.

Warrants have been issued for 25-year-old Julian Alexander. He was pulled over for a traffic violation and as deputies were getting out of their patrol units, Alexander put his vehicle in gear and drove off at a high rate of speed, according to reports from the sheriff's office.

Deputies report Alexander reached speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour. He then ran off the road and crashed into a ditch. Alexander then got out of his vehicle and ran.

Deputies returned to Alexander's vehicle and found a clear plastic bag of suspected marijuana and his wallet.

Several warrants have been issued for Alexander's arrest. He is wanted for unsafe motor vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer, and possession of marijuana.
