GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - During an undercover drug operation, deputies found marijuana, a handgun, $11,000 in cash, drug paraphernalia and synthetic cannabinoids.
According to officials with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, undercover detectives conducted an operation to buy marijuana from 26-year-old Cyril Ezumezu Jr. During the search of his vehicle, they found additional marijuana and a handgun.
then searched Ezumezu's home and found more than $11,000 in cash, digital weigh scales, another handgun and some synthetic cannabinoids.
"This is the second drug arrest in the course of two weeks that detectives located a large amount of cash and a quantity of drugs," said Chief Bacala. "These are actions by our detectives that we are proud of to make our neighborhoods and community to remain a safe place. Our detectives will continue to work hard to locating these drug dealers, and getting them off the streets," added Chief Bacala in a news release Wednesday afternoon..
Ezumezu Jr. is currently on probation and is a convicted felon for previous marijuana convictions. He was arrested and charged with distribution of marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of synthetic cannabinoids, two counts of illegal carrying of weapons, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on Wednesday, October 8 at approximately 1 a.m. where he is awaiting bond.
