Zombie bike ride to raise bike safety awareness

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Hundreds of people gathered for a zombie bike ride to campaign for bike safety. Bicyclists, runners, and children gathered for the 5th annual Zombie Bash Friday.

People were putting on make-up and dressing up like zombies. The bike safety campaign was added on this year by The Capital Region Planning Commission. J.T. Sukits was one of the organizers of the event he said bike safety is very important for people in Baton Rouge.

"People need to be more aware of cycling so they can become more cognizant of the safety issues pertaining to that," said Sukits.

In the past five years there were nearly 100 bicyclist killed; most by cars. Cyclist rode down to LSU and back on top of the lighted levee near the Mississippi River,to demonstrate what people should safely be able to do in Baton Rouge.

At the end of the ride people gathered for a well-known Michael Jackson dance performed to the song Thriller.
