Police: Childhood friends arrested after stabbing, beating each other

GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - Police were called to an apartment complex on Coontrap Road in Gonzales, LA early Sunday morning after reports of a stabbing in the parking lot.

When police arrived at The Palms Apartments, they learned the two men involved were childhood friends.

Reports say two men got into an argument and it turned into a fist fight. Witnesses say Travis Gustave, 34, walked back into his apartment, grabbed a knife, and walked back to the parking lot.

Tyrone Johnson, 36, had multiple life threatening stab wounds and Gustave had multiple broken bones in his face.

Travis Gustave was released from the hospital later that day and has been arrested on one count of attempted second degree murder of Tyrone Johnson.

Tyrone Johnson was released from the hospital two days later and was arrested for one count of second degree battery of Travis Gustave.

Both Gustave and Johnson have been booked into Ascension Parish Jail and are awaiting bond consideration
