BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Mayor Kip Holden held a news conference Wednesday morning in which he urged people in East Baton Rouge Parish to get a flu shot.
He noted the shots are available at doctors' offices, clinics, pharmacies and health units. He also told those in attendance about 36,000 people die because of the flu.
"Protecting yourself from the flu also protects the people around you, especially those who are most vulnerable to serious flu illness like young children, the elderly or people with chronic health conditions," Holden said.
He added the city-parish will host an employee health fair Thursday. It will include free flu shots for all city-parish workers.
