Police investigate Wednesday evening home invasion

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officials with the Baton Rouge Police Department are investigating a home invasion that happened just after 9 p.m. in the 900 block of South Foster Dr.

Victims told police they heard a knock at the front door and went to open it. A suspect kicked in the front door and began to pistol whip the victim in the face and head.

A second victim ran to the bathroom to escape, but the suspect forced his way into the bathroom and began hitting the victim in the back of the head with a handgun and demanding money.

The first victim escaped from the apartment and began screaming for help. Neighbors called police about the disturbance.

Police say when the suspect heard the screaming, he grabbed an iPhone and iPad from a countertop and ran out of the apartment.

Reports say the victims only had minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his mid 20s and is about 5'7" tall. He has short dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and navy pants.
