The Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a tree limb, where a Gonzales motorcyclist was killed on La Hwy 22 in Livingston Parish.

The crash happened just before 1:30 p.m.

Travis P. Lessard, 53, of Gonzales and his brother, 52-year-old Joseph S. Lessard of Maurepas, were riding next to each other on their motorcycles eastbound along the highway in French Settlement. According to LSP spokesperson Jared Sandifer, the Lessards were seriously injured after a tree limb fell onto both riders. Travis Lessard was transported from the scene to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Gonzales, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

His brother, Joseph, was sent to Our Lady of the Lake Center in Baton Rouge to be treated for serious injuries.

Sandifer says the Lessards were both wearing safety helmets and no impairments were suspected.
