The LSU Board of Supervisors on Friday approved a three-year contract extension for LSU vice chancellor and director of athletics Joe Alleva. The new contract will keep him at LSU until June 2019.
"I want to thank President Alexander and the Board of Supervisors for the contract extension and for their continued support," Alleva said. "LSU is a great place with a brand that is stronger than ever. We've been able to accomplish some great things here and under President Alexander's leadership, the potential for LSU is unlimited. I'm very fortunate to work at a great university and it's my goal to retire here."
Under Alleva's direction, LSU teams have won 10 Southeastern Conference titles and claimed the national title in baseball in 2009. LSU's football team has been ranked as the fourth most valuable college program. The Tigers have appeared in six bowl games under Alleva, which includes a 13-0 regular season record and the SEC title in 2011.
The board also approved a contract extension for basketball coach Nikki Caldwell and softball coach Beth Torina.
