Legislators file lawsuit against state, common core
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The battle against common core testing is headed to court after more than a dozen lawmakers filed suit.
Seventeen lawmakers have filed the lawsuit to try and stop the use of the national set of education standards --in reading, writing, and math.
The suit claims the State education board did not follow the correct procedures for rolling out common core in classrooms.
BESE president Chas Roemer says the education board followed state law and the lawsuit has no merit.
