ACADIA PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Two 18-wheeler drivers died after their big rigs collided head-on Wednesday evening and caught fire, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers said the crash happened on I-10 East near the Estherwood/Iota exit in Acadia Parish around 6 p.m. The names of the drivers were not released.
The wreck shut down both lanes of I-10 East in the area for several hours. The interstate reopened around midnight.
Investigators reported one tractor trailer was on I-10 West when it crossed the median and slammed into one on I-10 East. They added both semitrailers burst into flames.
Troopers are working to identify the drivers.
