BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officers from across southeast Louisiana carried the "Flame of Hope" for the Special Olympics on Friday.

Law enforcement officers and others gathered on the steps of the Louisiana State Capitol to honor athletes that plan to head to the USA games.

Then, officers took off on the first leg of a 6.2-mile run with the Olympic torch.

Special Olympics Louisiana is working to raise money to send more than 50 athletes to the games next month.
