BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Business continues to grow in downtown Baton Rouge, as Raising Cane's officially opened its 19th restaurant in the Capital City on Tuesday.
The ribbon was cut on its 183rd location, which is on Third Street, around 9:30 a.m.
However, the event was not all about the "Caniacs" and their chicken finger cravings. Crew members celebrated the occasion by beautifying the campus of the Mentorship Academy.
Mayor Kip Holden and other officials were on hand for the opening.
"When you look at all the businesses on this street and other streets, all of us have come together with one pledge," said Holden. "Let's do what it takes to make Baton Rouge better."
As part of the grand opening, Raising Cane's also kicked off its new "Give Back Giveaway" where guests can register through May 29 to win a $1,000 to his or her favorite local charity.
The historic Coca-Cola sign that sits atop the building remains covered up. Raising Cane's said it was not involved in that decision.
Raising Cane's added it leases the property but not the sign from the landlord.
