Hammond police chief under investigation on alleged misconduct

HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - The Hammond Police Chief is under investigation after two officers accused the chief of releasing too much information and jeopardizing the safety of one of the officer's children.

Officer Jennifer Payne Gautier was arrested last month, and she claims Chief Devall violated a state law by allegedly giving out her home address in a media release.

Officer Gautier says she and her children were put at risk.

The Hammond Mayor confirms that Chief Roddy Devall was placed on a 30-day administrative leave after an investigation on alleged misconduct. The Hammond Civil Service Board voted unanimously after the officers demanded the investigation.
