ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WAFB) - When a 7-foot alligator decides to sit in the middle of a highway, there isn't much you can do about it, except for maybe call a "gator whisperer" to handle the situation.
The nuisance animal expert with St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, Deputy Howard McCrea, took matters into his own hands.
The alligator picked its spot on Highway 433 Monday evening near the Rigolets and refused to leave the roadway.
According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Deputy McCrea "talked the gator into going with him."
According to the public information officer for the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, George Bonnett, the Deputy has a trailer hitched to his truck that is geared for alligator rescues. Once the alligator is harnessed and put onto the trailer, Deputy McCrea relocates the gators into an area of their natural habitat.
