BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A local church group is having an 80's theme skate party as the fundraiser for a luncheon which will be held for the Iris Domestic Violence Center. If you are looking to make a difference, the upcoming weekend may be a chance to get rolling for a good cause.
The Beacon Light of Baton Rouge Greeter's Ministry holds an annual luncheon in an effort to assist in the fight against domestic violence. Their event, the "More Bounce to the Ounce" 80's Skating party, will be on Sunday, April 27th from 6 - 8p.m. at Skate Galaxy, 12828 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, La. 70816.
"We do a luncheon every year for the center and this will help us raise the funds for it," said spokesperson LaQueda Ricks. "The luncheon will be held in October 2014; it will be open to the public, and we ask that people bring toiletry items for admission," she added.
The luncheon is scheduled for October 18th, 2014. But, the Greeter's Ministry have a lot to complete before the big day.
Ricks says you can purchase tickets for the "More Bounce to the Ounce" Skate party in advance for $10, and admission will be $12 at the door. Also, there will be contests and prizes added to all of the fun for a good cause.
