NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB/WVUE) - A 17-year-old freshman and star football recruit attending Tulane University has been arrested and charged with simple rape.

Niguel "Teddy" Veal, 17, was booked at 9 a.m. on one count of simple rape.

According to New Orleans police, the alleged victim was introduced to Veal and another man. The alleged victim began drinking and then went back to the men's dorm room to watch a movie.

The victim told police that while at the dorm, she had consensual sex with one of the men and then went to sleep. When she woke up she was sexually assaulted by Veal, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
