BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man was arrested early Friday morning on charges of aggravated rape, armed robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and second degree kidnapping.

According to the probable cause report, 40-year-old George Wright is accused of approaching a woman who was walking in the 1800 block of Scenic Highway. Reports say Wright pulled out a silver handgun and forced the woman behind a carwash.

After the sexual assault, the report says Wright took the woman's cell phone and food stamp card.

The report states "Fearing that she would be killed, the victim pleaded with (Wright) that she would give him money that was at a nearby friend's residence if he didn't harm her."

The two began walking when the woman spotted a patrol unit. She ran towards the unit and Wright ran away. The report says Wright was arrested after a short foot pursuit and the handgun was found.

According to police reports, Wright is a convicted felon and is currently on parole for first degree robbery. The gun was reported stolen through the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office.

Wright was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and is being held on a $205,000 bond.
