ALBANY, LA (WAFB) - Authorities said an elderly man was killed after getting ejected when the truck he was driving flipped Sunday night.

The victim was identified as Roy Davenport Sr., 72, of Springfield. Louisiana State Police reported the crash happened on LA 43 north of LA 442 in Livingston Parish near the Tangipahoa Parish line around 9:30 p.m.

According to troopers, the investigation so far shows Davenport was headed north on LA 43 in a 1995 Ford F-150, when for unknown reasons, the pickup went off the road. Investigators said Davenport regained control, but the truck veered off the road again.

Tpr. Jared Sandifer with LSP said on Davenport's second attempt to get back on the road he overcorrected, which caused the F-150 to cross both lanes and flip. Sandifer added Davenport was not buckled up and was thrown out of the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Impairment is not suspected, but per protocol in deadly roadway crashes, investigators have submitted a sample of blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

The investigation into the wreck is ongoing.
