Home invasion reported at Skip Bertman residence

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - BRPD detectives are investigating a home invasion at the residence of former LSU baseball coach and Athletic Director Skip Bertman, according to a department spokesman and public records.

Around 4:40 a.m. Saturday officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Ormond Avenue for a reported home invasion, Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said. Police have declined to release the exact address of the home, identity of the victims or what was stolen, but say they believe the home was targeted.

Public records show Bertman lives on Ormond Avenue in the Riverbend neighborhood off of Brightside Drive.

McKneely said information on the stolen property is being withheld as part of the investigation.

The robber broke into the home through a window and eventually encountered a male victim, McKneely said. The two scuffled, but no major injuries were reported.

The perpetrator fled before police arrived. A description of the suspect is not available because the house was dark at the time of the incident, McKneely said.
