Governor Jindal: 3.8 million pounds of salt to be used on icy roads

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - During a Monday evening news conference, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal urged all motorists in South Louisiana to stay off the roads to allow for emergency responders to assist those in need.

Many roads are expected to close as the weather conditions diminish. The Governor says DOTD personnel is using salt and de-icer to prep the roadways.

"I have issued a state of emergency. In terms of preparation, DOTD has 3.8 million pounds of salt, 28,000 gallons of liquid de-icer on hand, another 38,000 gallons en route," said Governor Jindal.
