BRPD investigating recent string of home invasions and sexual assaults

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge police are looking into three separate home invasions that led to sexual battery of the residents at the houses.

Police say the first incident happened in the Tara/Goodwood area just before 3 a.m. Sunday where a 78-year-old female heard a noise in front of her home and was grabbed by a male who forced her back into her room and assaulted her.

The next incident happened in the Glen Oaks area Sunday night around 8:30 p.m. where a 34-year-old victim, who was home alone, was awakened by the sound of her front door being kicked in by an unknown male.

The suspect then covered the victim with a blanket before trying to assault her, the victim resisted and was punched in the face before she escaped to a neighbors house where she called police.

Then, around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, a man approached a 73-year-old victim who was home alone in the Webb Park area and attacked her, hitting her in the face several times before leaving the home.

None of the women could give descriptions of the suspect so it is unclear if the three incidents are related.

The suspect is described only as a six-foot-tall male dressed in dark clothing wearing gloves and something covering his face.

BRPD is warning people to lock their doors as a precaution, and is asking anyone with information on these cases to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP (7867).
