DONALDSONVILLE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities are trying to find the person responsible for shooting a man to death early Sunday morning.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported Quincy Nicholas, 34, of Donaldsonville, was gunned down in the driveway of his home on First Street.
Lt. Col. Bobby Webre with APSO said detectives are investigating a possible motive.
Family members said they don't understand why someone would kill Nicholas.
"He was your best friend, just kind-hearted," said Ebony Payton, the victim's cousin. "Whatever you asked him for, if you needed anything, he would give it to you, regardless if he knew you or not."
Nicholas was arrested on drug charges at his home on First Street in Donaldsonville last month.
Investigators executing a search warrant reported finding cocaine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana, ecstasy, oxycodone, hydrocodone, drug paraphernalia and more than $5,000 in cash.
Deputies have not yet been said if they believe the two incidents are related.
Anyone with information about the homicide is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
