Former sheriff's deputy arrested third time in 3 months
GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - Authorities said a former sheriff's deputy has been arrested for a third time in three months and this time, he is accused of felony sexual contact with a teen.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported Todd Tripp, 24, of Gonzales, was re-arrested Thursday. He is charged with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. His bond has not been set.
Investigators said after the former APSO deputy was arrested the second time, detectives continued to investigate his activities and discovered he allegedly had sexual contact with a 16-year-old.
He was first arrested September 10 on charges of indecent behavior with juveniles and possession of child pornography. Sheriff Jeff Wiley said Tripp is accused of exchanging inappropriate text messages and pictures with a 15-year-old boy from another parish.
Wiley indicated Tripp had worked for the sheriff's office 18 months at the time and was training to become a patrolman. He was fired upon his arrest and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. His bond was set at $30,000, which he posted on September 27 and was released.
Tripp was then arrested October 8 on more than 300 counts of possession of child pornography. Detectives reported their investigation turned up more evidence from laptops, cell phones and other items taken from a search of his home. Following his second arrest, Tripp's bond was set at $76,000. Officials said he posted bond and was released.
Detectives continue to investigate Todd Tripp.
