BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Police have arrested a man for allegedly helping his son avoid arrest on murder charges.

Police say Curtis Howard Sr., 53, knew that his son Curtis Howard Jr., 18, was wanted on murder charges and provided him with a cell phone to keep in contact with his family.

The elder Howard has been charged with accessory after the fact to first degree murder.

The younger Howard was arrested September 10th for the murder of Rayjaun Martin, 20.

Police say Martin was trying to turn around in a driveway on Big Bend on September 5th when he was block in by another vehicle.  Two men approached Martin and attempted to rob him, shooting him several times.  Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.
