Deputies arrest suspect accused of shooting man in face

PONCHATOULA, LA (WAFB) - Authorities said the man wanted in a connection with a convenience store shooting was arrested after a traffic stop late Sunday night.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office reported Kenneth "Baron" Baker, 54, was taken into custody after he was pulled over in Ponchatoula.

He is accused of shooting another man in the face at the Circle K on Sisters Road in Ponchatoula Sunday evening.

Deputies said the victim was taken by ambulance to North Oaks Hospital in Hammond and then flown by helicopter to a trauma unit in New Orleans.

The victim was last listed in stable condition. His name was not released.

Baker was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Prison on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
