IRS manager sentenced for running tax business

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A former IRS manager has been sentenced for an illegal conflict of interest.

Jeanne Gavin, 62, admitted to owning and operating a private tax and accounting business while serving as a supervisory internal revenue agent and group manager in the Baton Rouge office of the IRS.

In addition, she had her subordinates access IRS databases for the benefit of her business.

Gavin was sentenced to one year in prison, one year of supervised release and a $20,000 fine.
