BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - An  arrest has been made for the hit and run crash that killed a Baton Rouge man named Sothy Lieu, 40, on Old Hammond Highway just west of Boulevard de Province as he was crossing the street Thursday night, July 25.

Police took 30-year-old Chasitie Adams into custody Friday, July 26.  BRPD partnered with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office to locate Adams' gray Volkswagen Jetta.

The car was found abandoned in a parking lot near the 9200 block of Florida Boulevard near Monterey Boulevard.

Police said the vehicle that hit Lieu was possibly a white or gray four-door car. They reported witnesses said a woman was driving.

Investigators said a car had stopped to let Lieu cross the road and the suspect – now believed to be Adams - drove around that car, hitting the victim in the process and continued westbound on Old Hammond.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported that Lieu was taken to the hospital, where he later died as a result of the hit and run crash.

Adams was placed in the EBR Parish Prison, and she faces felony hit and run charges.

Anyone with any additional information is urged to call the Traffic Homicide Unit at 225-389-7819 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
