LA State Police conducting sobriety checkpoint Wednesday

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police Troop A along with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, and the Central Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint at an undisclosed location in East Baton Rouge Parish tonight, July 3 from 9 p.m. to  3 a.m.

Troopers stress to drivers that impairment is not caused by only alcohol. If a driver is found to be under the influence of certain narcotic medications or illegal substances, they can be arrested for DWI too.

Troopers have a zero tolerance for impaired persons found to be operating a motor vehicle in this state. Troop A reminds motorists to drive carefully and make Louisiana's roadways safe for everyone during the Independence Day holiday.

If you see an aggressive or impaired driver you can report them by dialing *LSP (*577) or your local law enforcement agency.
