All the hard work former LSU and Southern Lab 2-sport star Chad Jones has done after his accident has paid off.

Jones says the Cincinnati Reds have signed the left-handed pitcher to a six-figure signing bonus to start in the organization's minor league system.

Jones originally opted for football after his career with the Tigers as a third-round pick of the New York Giants. A life-threatening leg injury in an off-season automobile accident took away Jones' chances of making an NFL roster.

After an unsuccessful tryout with the Saints, Jones worked out for some pro baseball scouts in New Orleans, and the Reds responded by making him a ninth round pick in this month's Major League Baseball draft.
