THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) - Officials with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife Fisheries are offering a $3,500 reward for information on who poisoned a pair of bald eagles.
The eagles were found in a field near Martinez Rd. in Thibodaux. Testing revealed that the eagles had ingested large amounts of poison in late March or early April. X-rays performed on the birds confirmed that they were not shot.
Bald eagles are protected by both federal and state law. Violations carry a fine of up to $100,000 and a year in federal prison.
