BAYOU VISTA, LA (WAFB) - A man in jail accused of murder was arrested on additional unrelated charges Tuesday morning.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said Charles Chandler II, 21, of Bayou Vista, was booked on two counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

The charges stem from an investigation that began on May 28 after deputies received a report of a possible rape. Detectives said they uncovered evidence that Chandler had sex with a 16-year-old girl in March.

He was arrested on the new charges and remains locked up with no bond.

Chandler was initially arrested April 29 in connection with the shooting death of Wade Blackburn, 18, earlier that morning.

He was booked on the following charges:

First-degree murder

Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Possession of marijuana

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance

Monetary instrument abuse

Possession of Fioricet without a prescription

Detectives said they found evidence of the shooting at Chandler's home. It is unknown when his case will go to trial.
