LSU's Jones picked in the third round, Katz in the fourth

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - JaCoby Jones was selected in the third round by the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday afternoon. Jones was the 87th pick of the Major League Draft.

Jones is hitting .283 this season with 10 doubles, five home runs, 29 RBI and 12 stolen bases.

Mason Katz was taken in the fourth round by the St. Louis Cardinals. Katz was the 125th pick of the draft.

Katz is batting .378 with 14 doubles, two triples, 15 home runs and 68 RBI.

Nick Rumbelow was selected in the seventh round by the New York Yankees. Rumbelow was the 224th pick of the draft.

This season Rumbelow is 1-0 with a 3.56 ERA in 30.1 innings pitched.

Will LaMarche was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the ninth round. LaMarche was the 276th overall pick.

LaMarche is 2-0 this season with a 3.65 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 24 and two-thirds innings.

Former Tiger Chad Jones was also selected in the ninth round by the Cincinnati Reds. Jones was the 284th overall pick.

Jones was injured in a car accident after being selected in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.

The two-sport national champion was unable to return to football due to his left leg injury and began to focus on professional baseball.

Ryan Eades was selected in the second round by the Minnesota Twins Thursday night. He was the 43rd overall pick in the draft.

Eades is 8-1 this season with a 2.81 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 96 innings.

LSU signee Justin Williams, an infielder from Terrebonne High School in Houma, La., was selected in the second round by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 52nd overall pick.
