BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Prosecutors filed an appeal Monday morning on a ruling in the decades-old case involving the death of a 10-week-old baby.

Earlier this month, a judge decided Stanley White, who was convicted of negligent injury and never served his sentence, would not have to go to jail.

White was convicted in 1995 and sentenced to two years in prison, but no one picked him up, so he never served his time.

The state filed a motion to have White report to prison, but Judge Jesse Leblanc ruled it is too late and instead put him on probation for two years.
