Fight prompts installation of metal detectors at city hall

AMITE CITY, LA (WAFB) - A southeast Louisiana mayor said he may have to install metal detectors at city hall.

"We have the equipment, we have use of it," said Amite City Mayor Buddy Bel. "And, I'm probably going to implement it at our council meetings in the future."

The decision about metal detectors was announced after Councilman Jonathan Foster and resident Gerard Wilson were arrested Tuesday night on fight-related charges.

The two are at odds over Wilson's use of a piece of property to sell cars.

Bel added he hopes the town's image doesn't become a victim of the brawl in the long-run.
