Man shot and killed while riding in car

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police are looking for a murderer after a shooting left one person dead and another wounded.

The victim was identified as Jermayne Jackson, 20, of Baton Rouge.

The shooting happened in the 4200 block of Provost Street, which is just south of Gus Young Avenue, around 10 p.m.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said Jackson and another 20-year-old man were riding in the back of a vehicle headed down Provost. Officers reported the other people inside told them they heard bullets hit the vehicle and noticed the two men were injured.

Investigators said the group drove to the hospital, where Jackson died. The other victim was treated. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Detectives said they do not have any suspects or a motive.
