Bill targeting salt domes heads to Senate floor

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A bill aimed at preventing another sinkhole scenario is on its way to the floor of the Louisiana Senate for debate.

SB 200 passed favorably in the Senate Committee on Natural Resources on Wednesday.

The bill written by Sen. Fred Mills Jr., R-New Iberia, would prohibit the issuing of permits to operate caverns in a salt dome until certain conditions are met.
