BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - After you say thanks next week, retailers want you to think about what you're giving on Christmas Day. Several big box stores are opening their doors at 8 p.m. on Black Friday Eve. The only problem is that's also Thanksgiving Day.
Retailers say, why not have an extra helping of sales to go with that stuffing. They want you to have dinner first and then head to the stores.
Thanksgiving Day will be shorter this year if retailers have their way.
In order to help you get those hot ticket items for cheap, Wal-Mart, Sears, K-Mart and Toys R plan to open at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Target will open at 9 p.m.
The Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic stores opens their doors on Thanksgiving as well.
Target employees want a chance to let their food settle after giving thanks. They started an online petition to Save Thanksgiving for the second year in a row.
Whether you spend Thanksgiving with family or total strangers in line, it's better to give than to receive.
Another subject brought up again this year, is how Thanksgiving seems to be bypassed; for some it feels like it goes from Halloween straight to Christmas.
Christmas music is being played over the radio at least one week before Thanksgiving. Christmas and holiday decor is pushed onto store shelves in October.
