Police said this BMW 330i hit the man in the left lane of Nicholson Drive as the man tried to cross the street.

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man was badly injured when he was hit by a car while trying to cross a street early Friday morning.

It happened on Nicholson Drive near Bob Pettit Boulevard in the Tigerland area around 3:30 a.m.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said officers found a 21-year-old man lying in the roadway.

He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

His name was not released.

Police said their investigation determined the victim was crossing the street when he was hit by the car.

The driver was not arrested.

The investigation is ongoing.
