Man arrested for June 5 murder of Telly Heard

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A 21-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of Telly Heard, 21, of Baton Rouge.

Police say Jonathan West was arrested and charged with second degree murder.

The shooting happened around 12:45 p.m. on June 5, 2012 near the intersection of Myrtle and 10th Street, under the interstate.

According to Sgt. Don Kelly, Telly Heard, 21, was shot at least one time.

According to police, the shooter was on foot and after the shooting Heard, he jumped into an older model, black four-door Chevy Impala. Witnesses say another person was driving the car.

Police say Heard may have been involved in an argument with the shooter immediately before he was shot to death.
