BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - According to Sheriff's officials, police have arrested three men after what they're calling an attempted carjacking.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office says a truck with three men inside pulled into a bar across from the Kindercare on Floynell. Two men jumped out and ran across the street and confronted a female as she was trying to get in her vehicle.

Detectives were at a nearby gas station and saw it happen. They ran over to the Kindercare and confronted the two men.

The two suspects ran back to the truck and one of them surrendered immediately. The other ran into a wooded area and pulled out a gun. Detectives fired at the suspect and missed, but they did catch up to him moments later.

The third man in the pickup drove away and EBRSO deputies caught him about 30 minutes later.

"Sheriff's deputies, whether they're on shift of off shift, whether they are on a call or not, they are trained to observe their surroundings, to see if there is anything that doesn't look right, and that's what these two deputies did," said Casey Rayborn Hicks with EBRSO. "They saw something that didn't look right and were able to intervene before anything happened."

Charges are still pending against the three men.
