Fundraiser held for Sylviane Lozada scholarship

BRUSLY, LA (WAFB) - A Brusly High School teacher who has been missing for nearly a year is still fresh in the memory of those who knew her.

Sylviane Lozada's sister and friend threw out the first pitch at a Brusly High game.

The game was a fundraiser for a foreign language scholarship in honor of Sylviane.

Many people donated their time to come out and help with the event.

The baseball game was more than just a special memorial for the family, but added another memory to their list.

"They don't have softball or baseball in Belgium. So that was their first time ever throwing a softball or ever witnessing a first pitch," said basketball coach Karen Wooly.

Lozada disappeared last summer.

The case is still under investigation.
