Robbery suspect shot during home invasion

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police are investigating a home invasion and shooting that left one of the suspects in critical condition Saturday night.
The Baton Rouge Police Department said officers responded to a shooting in the 5500 block of Arialo Street around 7:30 p.m.
When they arrived on the scene, detectives found that two suspects had tried to break into a home.
Investigators said during the robbery attempt, one of the victims fought with one of the armed suspects over the gun.
The gun discharged during the struggle and hit the second suspect.
Both suspects fled the scene to Baker, where they called 911.
BRPD detectives and Baker police officers were able to determine the shooting did not occur in Baker and that they were the suspects from Arialo Street invasion.
The suspect that was shot was transported to an area hospital, where he is in critical condition.
The other suspect, identified as Chauncy Carter, 32, of Zachary was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on armed robbery, attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon charges.
